Terms for households

Version 0.1-draft · effective 11 Oct 2026

Using the home app: what it is, plans and payment, your content, and our responsibilities.

Who we are

Fixture is run by [Company name] (company number [number], registered office [address]) (“we”, “us”). You can contact us at [support email]. These terms apply when you use Fixture for your home. Our privacy notice explains how we use personal data.

What the service is

Fixture helps you keep your home’s records — rooms, items, documents, reminders, shopping, energy, vehicles, projects — and work with the trades and people who help you. You can share a home with others and choose what each person sees.

  • Finding a trade: we show trades who have chosen to list themselves, with their own descriptions, prices, badges and verified reviews. We introduce you and help you arrange the job.
  • We are not a party to any job. The contract for the work is between you and the trade. The trade is responsible for the work, its price, its quality and for holding any registration the work needs. We don’t employ trades or supervise their work.
  • Badges show what a trade has shown us (for example insurance or a registration) at the time we checked; they are not a guarantee or an accreditation. Reviews come only from completed jobs (our reviews policy explains how).
  • Calculators, estimates and totals are estimates to help you plan. They are not quotes or advice.

Plans, trials and payment

  • Some features need a paid plan. The plans and what they include are shown before you buy, with the price (including VAT), how often you pay, when the first payment is taken and how to cancel.
  • A free trial of Home Plus lasts 14 days, once per account. We remind you before a trial ends. If you don’t buy a plan when it ends, you keep using the free features; nothing you added is deleted.
  • Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We remind you before a yearly renewal.
  • You can cancel online in two clicks from Settings → Plan. Your plan stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for; then paid features stop and everything you added stays readable and exportable.
  • Cooling off: you can cancel within 14 days of first buying a plan (it starts straight away at your request, so we may keep a proportionate amount for the days you used). If a payment fails, your features stay on while the payment is retried.
  • Sharing a home and choosing what people see is free on every plan.

Your content

  • What you add (records, photos, documents, notes) stays yours. You give us permission to store, process and show it as the service needs — to you and to the people you choose to share it with.
  • Photos are re-encoded when you upload them, which removes location data. If you use photo recognition, the image is sent to our AI provider only to suggest items; your name and address are not sent.
  • Don’t upload anything you don’t have the right to share, or anything unlawful. Don’t store alarm codes or passwords in notes.
  • You can download all your data, or delete your account, from your Account page.

Sharing a home

You decide who you invite and what each person can see (none, view or edit for each area, including costs and values). Owners always see everything. Anyone you share with can see what you allowed, and may keep their own copies — share carefully. If you rent your home, your landlord and letting agent never see your household’s records, and you never see theirs.

Reviews

You can review a trade after a completed job, within 30 days. Reviews must be your own honest experience. Don’t accept anything in return for a review. We may hold, edit for personal details, or remove reviews that break our reviews policy; we never change a rating or remove a review because a trade asked.

Acceptable use

You must follow our acceptable use rules. We may suspend or close an account that breaks them, or where the law requires it, and we will tell you why unless we can’t.

Our responsibility to you

  • We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong because of us, tell us and we’ll try to put it right.
  • We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren’t responsible for the work trades do, for decisions you make from estimates, or for losses that weren’t foreseeable.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or your rights as a consumer.
  • The service may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. Keep your own copies of anything critical (you can export at any time).

Complaints

Our complaints process explains how to raise a problem with us, a trade, a review or a listing, and how quickly we reply.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your Account page (we ask you to sign in again first). If you rent a home, you can’t delete your account while your tenancy is running — end it or leave the home first. When you delete your account, a paid plan is cancelled at once and your records, photos and files are deleted, except what other people you shared with have of their own, and the logs we must keep (see the privacy notice).

Changes and law

We may change these terms; if a change matters, we’ll tell you before it applies and ask you to accept it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings there.
